liz I agree with a lot of this but I think a major problem is the language barrier. A lot of rising Chinese and Korean actors/actresses are either born or raised in America. Zhang ZiYi being the major exception, but the other actors in Memoirs were pretty fluent in English. How many Japanese actresses on this list alone can say the same? They're casting for a Wolverine movie set in Japan right now and I'd personally love to see both Yukio and Mariko played by Japanese actresses - but the dialogue is supposedly in English - how can, say, Rinko Kikuchi, who is a great actress with her facial features alone, be cast in a leading role if her English is so poor? & unfortunately, I don't know how willing Hollywood would be to cast a noname Japanese actress who speaks English well; maybe they can compromise with an actress famous in Japan but who was raised in the west or fluent in English, but how many of those are out there? 12/30/2010
Samuel I heard of three of these actors, but I did not know about the others... ^,..,^ But you forgot about one of my favorite actresses... Kato Koyuki or Koyuki... I love her in Pulse, The Last Samurai, and Blood: The Last Samurai... ^,..,^

Thank you for the list I was trying to remember Ken Watanabe name... xD
