| Eddie | Francis, the TCM is sealed type waterproofed made by Siemens VDO. The only thing that was corroded is the male and female pins connector. The male is the one that protrude out from the TCM PCB. The female connectors are the one that is in the wiring harnish. If I was able to remove this socket connector then spray with contact cleaner & apply with contact or petroleum jelly all the pins, then I would not experienced the corrosion of the pins. Thank God that we have good electronic tech'n Pinoys in our place. You have to bring your TCM out from the casa since they are not repairing the pins. They don't have the electronic tech'n there. I brought it to the electronic repair shop who repair cellphone and TV and he was able to rebuild the corroded pins and we brought it back to casa and it was succesfull. The shift shock was gone. I am the one who decide to repair it outside not the casa. So sometimes, we have to be smart and knowledgeable of this things, if not we will end up paying high cost. I just pay P2k for the TCM pins rebuild. My MAP sensor is ok, everything works fine, Only cleaning of those electrical and electronic contacts. I thought my Gauge cluster is dead but he also repaired the cluster and it works perfectly now. He just clean the PCBs. All sensors were sprayed and cleaned. What I appreciate is the durability of FORD Everest esp.the Power Train control module is Bosch and also sealed type. Nothing was affected they just sprayed and cleaned it. Toyota cars esp. Fort. they are not sealed so the car owners complained of the huge cost of replacement. |

| Francis | Hi Eddie, Are you from the Philippines? I am also having a similar problem (shift shock) with my 2009 Ford Ranger. My car was also submerged in flood water for 2 days. May I know where did you have your TCM connectors checked/repaired? Thanks! |
1/27/2010 |
| Eddie | Now I'm happy becuase the root cause are the male pins of of theTCM that was broken and was corroded. My son brought it to electronic tech. and he opened the sealed TCM and found everything is okay and clean. No signs of burn PCB. so he built-up the male multi-pins and clean all of them them. The female connector was broken so the FORD service repairer made a jumper wire since the female socket is molded and I told him to provide socket & plug for easy removal should any future removal of the TCM is required. After the TCM was reinstall it now comunicates with the power train module and the instrument cluster. Everything goes back to normal. | 1/14/2010 |

| art | 2005 mazda 3 you have to fool with the shifting lever to get the car to start | 12/21/2009 |
| Eddie | Guys, good news. we founf the culprit on my AT. It is in the TCM pins connector. Some of the pins were corroded. We brought it outside to electronic tech. to build up and change new pins. But one of the wire of the female connector was disconnected. It canot be inserted in the socket because it is socket molded. What they did is to bypass ad connect to the side of the socket to male pin and the job is done very good. Now my tranny works fine and the car goes back to normal operation. | 12/16/2009 |
| Eddie | Dear Kevin, I should have to consult you as an expert of the AT system. My FORD Everest 2009 model is encountering a shift shock in the forward and reverse. FORD used the TCM (Transmission Control Module) made by Siemens VDO EMS 2. The ECU is Bosch in a CAN bus network. The FORD service repair technician found that the TCM is not communicating with the ECU by their OBDII. They removed the TCM and install it to another unit of similar model and brand. It does not work also. They brought a new one from their stock and it works fine on the Everest model they tested. And when they took the new TCM and plug it to my car it does not work and no communication. They suspect that their are still some area like wiring corrosions might be present in the fuse terminals, relays, transmission sensors, diodes, and they are they still doing the trouble shooting to locate where are the other possible culprit. For your info, my car was submerged with flood water above the dashboard for about 2 days while it was park in my garage. I removed the battery already when the water reaches the engine hood. The FORD service repair shop performed test drive of my Everest 2009 but that's the only remaining shift shock or abnormal shifting of the automatic transmission. BTW, they had already change the ATF prior to knowing this problem. May I know what is your advise for the solution of this problem? |
