Estee This sounds great. I have been using a recipe that was in our local paper in 1997. It does not include the pudding. Thanks for sharing his one. 12/23/2011
roy banister i am looking for a rum cake recipe that will take a month for it to age.the way i remember is it is covered with tin foil, then every day it is uncovered and more rum is poured on it then its covered up again.then at the end of the 30 days, its ready to eat.thank you 11/30/2011
J. S. Bland Recipe states that cake will last a long time. NOT TRUE! If cakes stands out in plain view, it will gradually disappear. I think you know what I mean.. 10/22/2011
wanda what would happen if i used cake mix with pudding 5/20/2011

Vivian Boyle This is best Bacardi Rum Cake recipe and instructions I have come across! Thank you! 12/30/2010
Mark Tastes better with Havana Club rum. 10/1/2010
Carole I think that if you read the ingredient list on a box of yellow cake mix and a box of instant pudding you may decide to make these ingredients from scratch. 9/4/2010
Mansuela This has got to be one of the most poorly written recipe/articles I've ever read. It almost puts me off the recipe itself. Maybe try running things past your friends next time so you don't come across like an eigth grader with poor language skills. 8/30/2010
cheryl M it is like this is the only recipe on the net. i am looking for a rum cake that does not contain fruit but does get soaked in pure rum as well as the glaze. a homemade recipe or one with the box is fine but not the same one on every recipe web address there is. 8/20/2010
Marianne J I have baked this cake for years, having obtained the recipe from a package store, and people love it! Everyone asks me every Christmas "Are you going to bake me a rum cake?' The recipe I have is a little different, though not enough to matter.. 4/10/2010
joyce lipsey. this was one of the best cakes that I have in a long time. And so easy to make. 4/8/2010
Carolyn thanks for having this recipe available. Been baking this cake for at least 40 years. Found it in an old Readers Digest. Lost it for many years and am happy to have it, and have made so many in the last few months. 12/23/2009
Natalie I made the Bacardi Rum cake for my husband's family and they loved it. I was in Los Angeles from olympia, WA. It gave me so much pleasure to bake that cake! i love it. 12/22/2009
Frances Brown I have used this recipe many times with many calls for more. I just made three and 1 is still in oven. I just need to know how long I can leave this cake out of fridge. I like room temp. Would three days be too long? 12/19/2009

Kim, Gilroy CA This cake is wonderful! It is very moist, and sweet. Delicious! I am making some right now as we speak :) 12/9/2008
Carol I first found the Bacardi Rum Cake recipe in 1979. I made one and brought it to a family gathering and they were hooked! For years, whenever we had a gathering, it was 'make your rum cake'! People were telling me to start a business making this cake. I eventually got tired of making the cake and a lot of people stopped drinking. Well this Thanksgiving I've been invited to two dinners and both hosts said 'make a rum cake' so I'll be making 2 or 3! If made right, you're right, there's no better! 11/21/2008
Kristi How do we know when the cake is "ready"to be pierced with a fork? What have we done to get it to the state of ready? 11/9/2008
BRITTANY LOVE IT AND I AM ONLY 14 10/4/2008

cm What am I missing in this recipe. I don't see any cake mix in the ingredients? 11/27/2007
Judie Where is the flour or cake mix for the body of the cake? 11/18/2007
Dottie Unless I'm missing something, the cake recipe is incomplete.
The only ingredients listed for the cake: 1 instant pack of Jello vanilla pudding, 4 eggs, 1/2 cup of cold water, 1/2 cup of oil, 1/2 cup of rum.

Mickey Looks good, but a key ingredient is missing - which I am assuming is a box of yellow cake mix?? 10/15/2007
nan I think that you forgot to list the cake mix in the recipe abovefor the rum cake 9/24/2007
mary whitaker you don't say how any thing about flour, cake mix, or cake flour, baking power . what do I use. 9/10/2007
Andrea I've been making this cake since 1981 when the recipe was first publisted in Bon Appetit. So I couldn't help but notice that this one omitted the box of yellow mix in the ingredients list. This is one of the great cakes of all time, but one made of only nuts, eggs, oil and rum will surely fall flat! 7/29/2007
Terri Bacardi Rum Cake is my favorite and so appropriate for parties. Just make sure that someone doesn't mop the glaze off the plate with their fingers. They may get a habgover. 6/5/2007
