Cindy The best stuff in the world for ink stains is, My Clean Shirt. I highly recommend it. I have used it for all kinds of laundry stains and when it comes to ink and Sharpie stains nothing works better. I hope this information is helpful. Just Google My Clean Shirt. 4/22/2011

Happy Camper Thank you for your advice. I had blue ink on the collar of my crisp white shirt. Although I initially had put stain remover on the spot and was about to put it in the washing machine in hot water, I thought I better get some advice on the internet before proceeding. Thankfully I read your article. I rinsed off the stain remover in cold water (most of the blue ink was still on my shirt), and proceeded to spray hairspray on my shirt. To my amazement, the stain was gone after soaking it a few minutes. Thank you again for saving my shirt! 5/19/2010
marylynn haagen how about removing magic marker stains on a concrete driveway? 9/26/2009
Thanks for help Gel ink pen. Caught it after washer, before dryer.

Rubbing Alcohol with clean white hand/gym towels worked great on most of the stains. Garments included kacki shorts (toughest to get ink out of weave), no iron slacks, white and dark t-shirts, and polo shirt.

I tried oxyclean on one tshirt and it worked somewhat. But the alcohol worked much better on this ink. However, I think rinsed one towel in alcohol and water till white again. The other had a weave that held on to the ink better. I used oxyclean on that to soak overnight. Results later.

Jill Marie The hairspray you recommend using works because of the alcohol in the spray. I've always used, and had great success with, straight rubbing alcohol. Whether the stain was wet or dry, on clothing, carpet or walls, the rubbing alcohol has always worked well for me. If I find that I need to use this trick and am out of alcohol, I use the hairspray (as you do) or I will use a baby wipe that has alcohol in it. 12/30/2008
Jennifer wow thanks i spilled ink on my sweater today but this really works! 6/19/2008
Vezza I had an ink stain that went through the dryer before it was discovered. I tried everything to remove this stain short of paint remover. Finally I went to my old standby, Lestoil. I dipped a toothbrush into the Lestoil and started scrubbing, the stain that hadn't budged, not even with bleach (white T-shirt material) started vanishing before my eyes. When I had gotten out as much as possible I threw it in the washer and washed on cold water. The ink was completely gone. 6/4/2008
