J. Spierling There is no proof that Lewis Carroll was a drug addict in any way. The term Mad as a Hatter did not come from his book, it was a common term of the time due to the illness often suffered by hat makers from the chemicals, I believe mercury, used in the hat making process. 1/2/2008
