I believe, a weight loss program that stresses self-discipline is the best and safest way to lose weight.

I'd say the main ingredient is a diet that becomes a habit, so that one can live one's life without constantly having the mind glued on food. With the correct diet, one only needs self-discipline for the first 21 days.
