Acupressure the New Cure for Acid Reflux?

Recent studies suggest that acupressure applied to the acupoint P6 reduces relaxations of the lower esophageal sphincter. These relaxations are the major cause of acid reflux. This could be the beginning of one of the most important discoveries ever made for the treatment of acid reflux disease.

Starlore I agree with this finding. I've only been diagnosed with AR/LPR today, but have been suffering from severe pain when swallowing.

The first time i experienced this, was a couple weeks ago while ill, & I had the additional issue of the glands in my neck being so swollen that I couldn't move my head without pain. So, I took a trip to the area mall where they have an inexpensive group of Acupressure practitioners (I've visited them for Sciatica previously). 15 minutes in the chair was all it took after mentioning the problem. Sure enough, the next day ALL of my symptoms were gone (fever/illness symptoms included. I remained sick for a week, albeit with much milder symptoms but the throat pain cleared entirely) & I felt 100% better. Definately worth a try...See a reflexologist or Massage therapist that knows Shiatsu or Acupressure in general. What have you got to lose?
