Carla This was well written, i would have read alot more.
I'm 26, i'm not 'emo' and have been suffering from bulimia for 6 years now and do not find this story offensive at all so don't appolgise!
Perhaps the words satirical, ficticious and stereotypical are too hard for some people to understand.
I know it was years ago but it was worth the pass, well done.

hannah wow this is an amazing story 8/6/2009
xx somewhat degrading nd insulting ..its just exaggerating eating disorders and advertising them as something that angsty teenage rejects use to make themselves seem 'the victim'. It also implies people with eating disorders are obsessivly pro-ED, hateful to larger people, and think theyre on a differant social level to everyone else. It shows suffers as attention seekers, when that is hardly the case at all.
The emo thing is kind of funny (just cos i dnt like emos nd ive heard the adam n andrew song lolol). But you might get penalised for that by an examiner, focus more on the story than the stereotype. Same with the ED thing. Dont write in too much about the emo/ED songs/clothes etc and focus on the story. And dont exaggerate the ED so much, its too 'typical,' theres not too manyy people out there who are That obsessed and That wierd. Try relating the charectors and that to a more regular audience (emo or not).

Emily You write well, but i found the content offensive.
People that suffer with eating disorders do not choose to do so because they are "emo" or for attention, it is a serious illness.

Jey This is just great!
really really good work!

ana moving, hilarious, and very accurate 3/10/2009
xkatie64x love this
amazing!

lc. This is very offensive the way it is written tottally stereotypes everything and the way you have use anerexia and bulimia as maine characters and depicted them as emos is very wrong. Emo is a genre and they are not known to have eating disorders they can happen to anyone. 2/26/2009
julian it's okay i guess. 1/23/2009
em eating disorders are not about looks it's about control! 1/18/2009
Ednos Well at least you apologised for it being insensitive. It was well wrtten but it came out like you were trying really hard to make it into a joke. Not bad but a little too steriotypical. 1/4/2009
muffy r really really really good!
you deserve an A*

Nic I thought this was fantastic, of course your going to have good and bad reviews but for someone to dismiss the the realistic fact behind this story? Its riddiculous. Well done, this piece is really inspiring 12/12/2008
The author Obviously a lot of you didn't read the tag line at the top, "a SATIRICAL, FICTICIOUS glance into the world of two STEREOTYPICAL teenagers.."

As for the remarks about eating disorders, I wrote this in summer 07 on a university summer course then re-edited it for my GCSE's. During this time a close friend of mine developed anorexia and was hospitalised for six months, which gave me a horrific look at the real side of eating disorders, it is one of the most harrowing experiences watching someone you love become controlled by their thoughts about food, so as for the comments about eating disorders, I completely agree; I was ignorant to the seriousness of ED's when i wrote this piece and apologise for any offence I may have caused.

Finally, for everyone who said they hope I fail, I got an A :)

simone i disagree with all of you who say its terrible and sterotypical at no point did the writer mention this is what all emos/all anorexics and bulimics are like the motehr did buut you can see why a mother would say that she would not know any better.
i think you are all way to harsh.
also its fiction so who cares if its sterotypical.
11/25/2008
simone i very much enjoyed i want to read more...a whole book even.
please put up another post, i want to read more of this story i want to know what happens, if they die, if they enter rehab, if their mother really cares, and if they have any friends at all i assume so because if ana is not going to the concert then who is mia going with?
11/25/2008
Fionnuala I thought it was a good essay and you deserved to get top marks for it but it was a little creepy. 11/4/2008
me well i actually liked how u wrote it and how much detail you put into it, i thought it was really good for GCSE standard, however i do agree to a certain extent with the others, not all 'emos' have an eating disorder and if someone genuinely does have an eating disorder, they tend to hide it and be ashamed of it. its ok not to understand what you haven't been through but try to understand that not everyone is the same, not everyone is as strong in the same way and not everyone can handle some of the games your mind plays on you. I'm not sure if you wrote this to attack people with eating disorders or just because it was a story line you thought up that you don't necessarily agree with but you liked because you thought it would get you a good grade but still, i believe everyone can have their own opinion about these things, just don't rule out all the others ok? i did enjoy reading it, it was engaging, descriptive and very well written. 9/24/2008
LOL. WOW.
That was quite possibly the worst thing I have ever had the displeasure to read. First off, your grammar is terrible. I was lost throughout the story trying to figure out what the hell was going on. You jump around way too often and your readers can't follow it. Secondly, and most importantly, "ana" and "mia"...seriously? This was greatly offensive to anyone who is suffering from a REAL eating disorder. When I say real eating disorder I don't mean this OMGILUVANA&MIA~~ crap. I don't even want to go into how annoying the characters and their "eating disorders" are.

Ugh. Overall, I give this story and epic FAIL.
8/27/2008
Ali Hahahaha you're not serious right? WTH was that? Way to stereotype. 8/25/2008
England That was a load of bollocks to be frank.
I used anorexia as the stimulus for my GCSE english piece and got an A*.
This, I should hope, is pretty much E standard.

Unrealistic, offensive and ignorant.

Ashley HA!!

i really like it... i find it almost entertaining how its said society beats people into having these eating disorders but, even though its just a story, its true how people stop and stare and whatnot at you when you look as thin... or as different in any way..... but how can they say it was acceptance they seeked when, now that their goal is pretty much acheived, they still didnt get what they wanted...
3/10/2008
nichole great writing, and quite interesting, but i feel that i need to point out that not all people with an eating disorder are emo or seeking attention. 2/18/2008
=) haha it sounds like "i must be emo" by adam and andrew 11/24/2007
England really really don't like this...you make anorexics out like they're all eccentric idiots that enjoy attention. I have to say this is not the case and the vast majority keep their illness hidden for a long time, and certainly would not go on about the burnt toast souls as an excuse for eating it.
ridiculous. I actually though it was a micky take when i first started reading it.
10/22/2007
montana i think this was bad and that its so stereotypical.
you obviously like the Emo Song
WAYYY too much.
9/4/2007
Becky i quite liked it - some of it was accurate from a bulimic point of view - like knowing she was sick but still managing to smile 8/26/2007
Becky that was amazing - im bulimic & i really think u captured what its like being in the head on one - really well done 8/26/2007
stephanie firth I feel guilty when i eat , i don't know what to do , some of my teachers at school have noticed, sometime i do want to tell someone but i cannot build the courage up to do it , i binge quite a lot but then i wil purge 7/17/2007
Audrey I think that in general, the essay was well-written. A slightly unrealistic approach to eating disorders, but descriptions of scenery were pleasant to read. 7/1/2007
in recovery a simplistic, immature look at eating disroders. 4/25/2007
Harriet MCR fan Woah, that's an amazing story which difinatly depicts the everyday life for someone so committed to this kind of life. I'm not anorexic, nor am i an emo, but i understand why someone would live like that. I just don't have the complete motivation or strength to do it unfortunatly. Great story, well done! 4/12/2007
Hannah how can any of you say that this was a great piece of writing. and as it was at a GCSE level it makes it even better. its someones view on what they think. everyone has different views for all of you to act like this it makes me think maybe you are all offended is because you lot have an eating disorder!. this is a great essay hope you got top marks! 3/30/2007
meghan dumb. and unrealistic 2/15/2007
nikki this has a really good concept but seriously you need to make your mind up which is the male and which is the female. also were you listening to the 'emo kid' song while you were writing this as some of this sounds like the lyrics from this song. Also i have to say not all emo's are like this so it is wrong to catogorise us as being ana and mia, maybe you are or maybe not but seriosuly were not all depressive some of us do actually no what happiness, fun, excitemnt etc is. this is very melodramatic, you only mention the morning but you talk about the world get thign in proportion! 2/6/2007
fuck-labelling wow that was....that was......so damn steriotypical it shouldn't even be legal. do you know how stupid that sounds? calling every emo anorexic and bulimic? thats like me calling every pink wearing person a fat retard! steriotyping is wrong so is labelling people!
did you also know that people who are anorexic and the like are actually suffereing from an illness, it's not all their fault!!
also i would love to tell you that just because you have listened to the 'emo song' doesn't make you a glorified emo-expert - it actually makes you a bit of a dick since most emo's aren't depressing lunatics! also using their lyrics should be classified as copyright...dont you think???
i hope you got an F - especially since your imagination is crap and you cant think of a subject that is actually worth attacking!
DICK!
