The French Revolution - Madame Du Barry and Princess de Lamballe
It is a curious point to note that both Madame Du Barry and Princess Lamballe had had the chance to escape to safety in Great Britain, but both chose to return to Paris and to their subsequent deaths.

To Morgan Murchison
The clergy ( Roman Catholic ) were per capita the largest land owners in France and with a little research you'll find they treated their peasants particularly bad.
re:" left wing do-gooders" The Third estate ( people ) wanted all Church, army and government positions open to men of talent and merit. They also sought a Parliament that would make all the laws for the nation. They desired a constitution that would limit the king's powers and desired fair trials and religious toleration .
What do you think the clergy thought about that? |

i'm not an expert but i believe the only fact known about the death of the Princesse de Lamballe is that her body was deposited in 4 pieces at the local police station by members of the puplic. Marie Antoinette did not see the head of her friend. |

A Roman Catholic should know
Outline of the Canonization Process: -- Major Stages: ---- Servant of God (Venerable). This stage requires that a candidate be found to have lived a life of faith and morals with "heroic virtue." ---- Beatification (Blessed). Requires an extraordinary event that is recognized as miraculous by the Church, granted by God through the intercession of the Venerable one. ---- Canonization (Saint). Requires a second extraordinary event that is recognized as miraculous by the Church, again through the Blessed's intercession. [The miracles are usually "impossible" and irreversible cures of illnesses or injuries, attested to by medical authorities (often non-Catholics). Miracles are not required when the person in question was martyred for the Catholic faith. JFG] Steps to Beatification: Beatification requires recognition by the Church of an extraordinary (miraculous) event, that is one that cannot be explained according to the laws of human science and is attributed to a Divine intervention through the intercession of the Servant of God who has been invoked by the faithful. Such recognition by the Church has to go through several successive stages: A) The gathering of all the evidence: historical, clinical documentation, and deposition of witnesses. B) Critical study of all the evidence and writing by the Postulation of the "Positio" that proves the extraordinary nature of the event. C) Examination of the "Positio" by the Medical Board of Specialists in the case of a physical event. D) Assessment by the board of Theologians. E) Meeting of Cardinals and Bishops who are members of the Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints. A positive finding is required by them and by the pope. Steps to Canonization: Requires the recognition by the Church of an extraordinary (miraculous) event that occurred after the Beatification, and is examined in the same steps as above in Beatification.

I didn't see the other comments when i wrote my first blurb. Marie-Anoinette most certainly snubbed the Comtesse du Barry. She was a courtesan, a lower born. As an archduchess of Austria and dauphiine of France, it was inappropriate to cavort with such a creature. If memory serves, those of higher rank were not addressed by lower members unless they spoke first.

This was a good description...As I am particular with the Princesse de Lamballe, I would like to gently correct. The name should be Marie-Therese. The full name of Madame Lamballe was Marie-Therese Louise de Savoie-Carignan, Princess de Lamballe. This was nice. |

As a Roman Catholic I believe the Princess de lamballe should be saint because of her religious devotion, courage, integrity, honour. These things are what the left wing ˇˇdo goodersˇˇ lack. |

Several things are very incorrect in this article. 1-Marie Antoinette did not offer cold shoulder to Du Barry because of her humble origins, but because of her job. 2-This is the first time that Lamballe is described as witty or beautiful. There are other errors but I leave those to the author of the article to find out by reading proper sources. |

They said that a man might have proceeded to rip her heart out and eat it after he cut off her genitals. x.x;;; |
