"The first method suggested, a mouse glue trap, has all the benefits of spring-loaded traps (i.e. they are inexpensive, non-toxic, simple to use), but these don’t kill the mice in the same unpleasant manner. These boards that are covered in very strong glue are easy to use, all you have to do is place them every few feet along the mouse’s runway, and the mouse will get stuck to them. Glue traps are ideal for use in areas where the use of poison is undesirable."

You are correct in the fact that it doesn't kill them the same way...it's worse! It's a slow kill method. Leaving a mouse stuck to the trap for dies while it dies from hunger and thirst while writhing around trying to get free, sometimes tearing it's own feet off.

This should never be recommended. It's highly inhumane! Snap traps are best, or even better (but a bit more expensive) are Rat Zappers. They are great, and highly effective! They simply electrocute the mouse (or rat) and you don't see or have to touch the dead body. You know there is a kill by the red light blinking on it. All you have to do is dump the body out. It's a win win (almost) for both parties. A quick death for the mouse, and a clean disposal for the human!
