I think the article was very true. I am a "unpopular" person at school and the eldest child out of my siblings and cousins. My social skills are not very good. I have only one friend at school who is way more talented than I am ( which makes me feel even worse ). I believe that my self esteem gets lower each day at school. That's why my grades have also plummeted. I feel like I can't get anything right, and I tend to cry a lot. I really don't know what to do. Next year I will probably be home-schooled which I kind of am excited about. But I want to finish off my last year knowing that I had friends and that I was looked up to. Any suggestions? |

i think popularity isnt that important. if your not popular then you shouldnt care unless your happy with yourself and have friends and a good life towards you. |

hmmmm my advice to u is believe in yourself and grow some self confidence I no it seems akward hearing this from me because im part of the popular group but all u have to do is stand up for yourself
show them that your not ready to be pushed around if u survive which there is a 75% chance u probably wont nad get humiliated for the rest of ur school year take a chance ask that guy if he says no dont cry be happy stand up and say "You know what! I don't care if you go with me or not and besides theres more guys in this skool than ur age so there!" thats wat u say and walk away. |

please read all of this: Ok, i'm a middle schooler, and at my school I'm not popular.. at all. Sometimes i feel like i don't have many friends.. i rarely go out on weekends with friends, and i dream of being part of the "popular" group. i know every adult says it doesnt matter how popular you are in school, because when u get older it wont matter. but most the popular kids at my school that i want to be friends with are so much different than the way people stereotype. they're not into drugs or achohol or anything like that. they just seem to have soo much fun. and i'd do anything to be a part of that :( i just dont know what to do!! what do they have that i dont?!
and another thing.. i have a really big crush on a really popular guy at school. i want to go to the next dance with him.. or atleast just dance, but i'm so afraid of getting rejected since he might already have plans with a popular girl. please help me build my self-confidence :-\ |

I think that it doesn't matter what type of person you are, you shouldn't try to put other's down because you think that you are better than them. If it is a small school, like Clarkton High School, Missouri, then there aren't any "popular" kids here and that is what I think |

Chldren undergng popularity pressre s a extreme issue. This may lose a child's sef confidence and this could mean that the child wll be very afraid of leaving her / his comfort zne. |

Popularity comes from how you were raised as a toddler. If you have proper parents and they always show you things that'll make you more confident, then you should do fine in school. Other kids that are more attractive, more athletic, more confident, and more wealth, have an unfair advantage in life. KINDERGARTENERS have been given cellular phones from their PARENTS. Adults don't seem to realize that other kids that have less than wealthy and popular kids are jealous and deppressed over stupid stuff. I feel very very sorry for those who have to feel emotional pain. Some kids who get deppressed over stupid stuff like jealousy and wealth commit suicide. Its is NOT fair at all. |

I think its great parents are trying to boost their children's confidence. But I am a teenager and no matter how hard adults try..there will always be cliques and their children will always want to be in the "popular crowd". I'm a recovering anorexic, I struggled with it for my first two years of high school...desperate to fit in. |
