Chuck Yaichner First of all squirrel baffles are expensive and useless! I've tried them and they don't work.
Second, there is NO such thing as a squirrel proof feeder. I've tried them too and they don't work.
Third, Critter Ridder or red pepper in the birdseed is usless, I've tried both and neither work.
Fourth, putting out squirrel feeders does not hinder them from attacking the birdfeeders, it just attracts more squirrels and compounds your problem.
Fifth, the solution is simple, at least for me. I used empty gallon Hi-C jugs. Cut out the bottom, slit up one side and duct taped them just under where the bottoms of the birdfeeders hang on my shepard hooks. Then sprayed the poles and plastic jugs with Pam cooking spray. The ensuing circus was well worth the effort. The squirrels can't get at my feeders anymore, and I can enjoy watching all my favorite birds eat their meals in peace. Now, if I can just figure out how to keep the Crows, Blackbirds, Cowbirds, and Grackles away from the feeders, my life will be complete!
