I am not for or against the border fencing because sooner or later they are going to find more different ways to get over here in the u.s. As of my opinion i dont really think that illegal crossing will ever stop. its something that will never end. they come over here for a better feature which is why they cross. I know i would be crossing over here to if there was no better choice. i would do what ever i can to come over here to the u.s. As of my guestament, i think they might start crossing over by private planes and stuff like that. i dont know if that has already happened or occured but if it hasnt that just might happen. Pretty soon its going to be involving the sky. no matter what they do, they still will find ways to come over. what i think is most of them get here by hauling illegal immigrants. I've seen and heard about it. Some of them are lucky that if they dont get caught in this situation. they will pay good money to get them over here. so as of what i speak there is no use to border fencing. It may take a while for them to plan there way over but they will get here some how...

i think it would be better for a fencing because they are the reason why our money is being spend most on. when actually it could go to us who are actually u.s citizens. our u.s citizens should come first since we are legally from this country. |

If Mr. Fox thinks our building a wall is "shameful," what about his own govt's failure to provide for the citizens of Mexico? Forget guest amnesty-- get your own country in gear so your citzens want to stay there! As long as the legal citizens of Mexico can come here illegally, nothing will ever be done to fix the problems of their own country. |

Just people afraid of Mexicans. I understand that nearly half the school children in California are of Mexican decent. Building a fence won't change that fact. It just creates a division that will be bad policy for years to come. |

This is for the people that are filled with hate against these mexican immigrants who cross the border.I hope you dont claim to be a Christian, because if you do,hell isn't looking too bad right now. |

I have lost any American spirit that I had.Hearing and reading such hate some Americans feel for these Mexican immigrants.I guess they dont recall history, and have no sympathy for others.Just remember you might not always live the life you have now.No one knows what the future holds. What if the American economy declined, what would you do,what if your kids are hungry ? Would you have the money and the time to go through the legal immigration system to work in another country?Or would you have a relative to file a petition for you to come to this other country? How long do you think this takes? Would you have the money to go through the legal immigration system? Take a look at yourself, your life, and your family, and think about what you would do if your financial status declined for the worse. You wouldnt go to another country legally or illegally to better your life? The Mexican people come here to work.they're not asking for you to send donations to their country, stop hating, have some compassion , your ancestors came here for a better life, did they go through the proper procedures? |

"If we FORGET our history we are doomed to repeat it" If you think about all the walls that were built in various cultures, when they fell, was the world a better place? It is a shame that the people of this country refuse to see the big picture. BIG PIC: It's true...the world looks to the US as a grand example and we should acknowledge that. If the world sees that American is building a wall to keep out other human beings, then it must be ok to let atrocities against humans be ok. SMALL PIC: Some people don't like change. I can't believe...actually...I can believe that some people think that this is ok. If sheeple don't want to see the truth, they are insulting their own existance. Folks have been duped into becoming lemmings because they don't use their mind (that GOD gave 'em) to think, rationalize and make decision according to their own opinions. They would rather have someone do it for them under the gise of being CHRISTIAN. Whatever happened to "love your neighbor" or "take the plank out of YOUR eye before you take the splinter out of your friends" or "Whoever is without sin cast the first stone" "or "do unto others as you want them to do to you". It seem that these cornerstones of Christianity are always overlooked and sheeple, the ones who claim to go to church and pray and fast and tithe, always use the "Hate the sin not the sinner" line. This is the greatest insult against our country and our creator. |

What if there was a fence preventing your ancestors from coming here? Where would you be? |

Remember your ancestors are not the original owners of America, the indians were.Your ancestors were the immigrants, you need to go back to your own country that your family descended from.I recall that Hilter told the German people the reason for their misfortunes were the Jewish people.Remember what happened to them. The Mexicans are not to blame for terrorism, economy, etc. do you really believe everything your told? You could never be brainwashed, this could never happen here. Not in America, only other countries, right. |

You have a fence AROUND 3 acres. You don't have a 30 foot section of fence on your 3 acres to keep your neighbors dog from crapping on your lawn. Why? Because you know that would have been a waste. The dog would walk around the fence and crap on your lawn anyway. The same thing applies here. A lot of money for something that won't be effective. As for a "drop in the bucket," enough drops will fill the bucket. If $1.2 billion is a "drop in the bucket" then why do I have to bother paying the measly few thousand dollars a year that I do in taxes? That would be like .000001% of a drop... And believe me, I do ask my "representation" in the government to stop spending money irresponsibly. |

Do you actually believe that 1.3 b is even a drop in the bucket. this is going to a good cause, like i stated before good fence makes for good neighbors, I have a fence around 3 acres. it cost me a lot of money but it was worth it. what I would do on my home, i would do for america which is my home.thank you for paying attention, just tell your local senator to cut their pork.. |

A. Nunez...please tell me you are kidding. I don't give a damn how much money people spend on golf balls. You're free to spend your money on whatever you want. However, I think the Federal Government needs to be held accountable for what they spend money on. This is a complete waste of money. Money the US CAN NOT afford to waste right now. It's not going to help. We are financing two major military campaigns right now and letting the people of the gulf coast rot in the fetid remains of Katrina. What this fence WILL do is increase the number of truly dangerous criminals who will participate in the "people traffiking" business who are willing to kill to make a profit in a deplorable business. Then we can spend some more money on Federal Law Enforcement to track down the traffikers. Do you honestly believe this is any more than an election-year stunt to make congress (Democraps AND Republican'ts alike) look better to their constituents? How is it that a "Conservative" government spends so much money? Well, at least they don't spend money on due process and warrants any more. |

To all those who say "this is a land of immigrants, so we must permit unbridled illegal immigration" -- you moved into your home too at some point; your family hasnt just been there forever. So why not open your doors and let everyone who wants to come in come in whenever they want to come in? Or is your home more sacrosanct than your nation? Presumably you aren't even American, so you can pontificate on America.. |

fences make for good neighbors, we all have fences around our homes marking our property line. It is a matter of respect, law and knowing that as long as you stay on your side and I saty on mine we'll be ok. |

A wall is not the ideal solution, but the continual insurgency of U.S. requests to stop the illegal immigration must be stopped. There are many factors well beyond the issue of tax dollars, govt aid, police and medical resources that are strained because of illegal immigration. The American culture (what is left of it) is eroded by those who do not participate in even the simplest of U.S customs such as speaking English, or even having the desire to learn English. Will the Fourth of July be overshadowed by foreign celebrations? My main question would be, "How much can America take." |

We have tried the law and trusted the mexican people to obey ours. They continue to flood accross borders. It is time to stop this. If they respect our laws then then can apply for a visa and enter our country the proper way. If they don't like the fence, then don't try to enter the US illeagly. If they do this, they will never see the fence. I suggest they join us and become part of the US.We can turn Mexico into about 5 States. then the Mexican Americans can go anyware they want. Then in 10 years those same people will be demanding a wall or fence between South America and the US to keep the flood of imagerants from comming into there country. |

What a waste of $1.2 Billion dollars. Perhaps some of that money could be used to help encourage economic development in Mexico so people wouldn't feel like they have to leave. Or, maybe, instead of a fence that is sure to prove ineffective (except as an election-year political tool) that money could have been spent rebuilding the gulf coast which, ironically, looks like a third world country more than a year after Katrina. At what point will the concept of reason return to American politics? |

We all are descendants of immigrants, if you feel everyone should go back to their own country, better call your parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to pack and return. Then the indians could have their land back.

Gee,Bush couldn't think of anything else to spend 35 billion on? I believe there are many middle class Americans that appreciate some healthcare,or senior citizens who cant afford to heat their homes, disabled, disillusioned, amputated, soldiers returning back home? I know some of us could think of other ways to spend 35 billion.Do you ever think we'll have a real person for president?Someone that has lived a low to middle class life, you know someone that's actually had to worry about finances, healthcare, basic problems, like we do ?

I think it's awesome that the people that believe it's necessary to have a fence to protect our Americanism struggle to write correctly in English. definitely, not definately; amnesty, not amasty; dear "me," Use commas and periods; hopping, not hoping. This fence is ridiculous. We're all descendants of immigrants. What are we so afraid of? |

If Americans heard they could make more money in another country, they'd be there in a heartbeat, illegal or legal. They too would want to provide a better life for themselves or their family.Have you ever been to Mexico? Not the resorts, but real Mexico.I'm sure the mexicans would love to come here legally, but it's @ 20,000.00 to do so, or you have to have a relative to petition for you, which is no guarantee. How can you come to America legally if your basic pay is @ 30.00 per week? The reason the American government is so hell bent on mexicans, is because this country has no money, oil, technologies, etc. If I'm not mistaken, the American indians were here first, how can you claim a land that was already inhabited?Look were the American indians are, remember the trail of tears, how vicious is it to kill and scalp indian children and women.I'am American, and it seems that throughout history, we conquer and claim ours, when it's not.Mexicans lived in California,New Mexico, and Texas, they too were pushed out of their land.Read between the lines of the history books.Unless you're an American indian,we cant say go back to your own country, did the indians tell that to your ancestors ? It would be very interesting show for an american and mexican to switch places, jobs, and cultures.Think about it, if you or you family were hungry and poor you would risk your freedom,or life to make btter for them.Put yourself in someone else's shoes. |

I think it is ridiculous that we are allowing millions of Mexican into this country. Over the last 10 years they have changed areas of this country into Little Mexico. They do not want to become Americans, learn the language or pay taxes. We have to accommodate them by having everything translated into Spanish, business calls, signs, even hair products have a Spanish translation. This is America, we speak English. If Mexicans keep coming into our country at the rate they are now, Ameica will no longer exist, we will become an extension of Mexico. A wall is definately necessary!!! |

Why can't people understand that the "illegal" in "illegal aliens" means they are in this country... well... illegally? There's one remedy for that - send them back to their country of origin, and instruct them on how to immigrate here legally. Has anyone ever looked into what it takes to legally immigrate to Mexico? Do yourself a favor and look it up. You'll be shocked!!! |

I'm surprised there isn't already a fence around the entire border including Canada. There are to many threats out there we should be more secure everybody is worrying about the Mexicans what about everybody else from around the world that visits Mexico they could just a easily come over too ,bringing God knows what to this country. Shoot! w/ all the money I pay in taxes a year go ahead build a damn fence! While you’re at it make it electrical. |
