Nick First of all, great article, It really clears some misconceptions about certain terms and methods. But I will never understand why people are so against canine ethology. Yes, I agree that dogs do not behave exactly like wolves. (for instance dogs do not regurgitate their food to feed their young.) But the pack mentality is so obviously prevalent in dogs today that it is simply ludicrous to ignore that aspect of a dog and to not use it to motivate the dog. You can throw all the study results at me that you'd like, but absolutely know that canine ethology methods work. Cesar Milan can get 30-40 pitbulls, rottwiellers and german shepards to walk with him as a pack, in an organized fashion without any leashes and live together without any fights breaking out. Every single one of his dogs displays the epitome of happiness, and contentedness. And I have gotten the same results with my dog using similar canine ethology techniques.

gin francis ive seen dogs trained the traditional way and they where so well trained, no one was harmed in any way. there is nothing wrong with it ,the collars are just tools you are the trainer. 4/29/2008
