The Toy Group includes most of the very small and miniature lap dogs and apartment-sized companion dog breeds. Toy dogs play a critical role in the lives of people that live alone and their presence can have beneficial effects on the health of the sick, the elderly and the housebound.

Gwen My current Maltese is seven. She only started Agility training three years ago and achieved her first UKC Level I Title in November. We didn't enter many trials and when we did I understood her stamina---which was one trial during the week-end and morning when it was cool. Isadora is such a versitile dog. We kayak together, walk together, do agility together, have taken Freestyle Seminar and therapy dog duties together---she has her therapy dog international certification. Isadora is my Girlfriend. Last March she and I were Mistresses of Ceremonies for our local AKC Dog Club Fashion Show. It has been different having her at a time when I am retired. So, while all the Maltese traits---loyal, loving, good disposition, very adaptive, travel well, etc. exist, because we have been together 24/7 for the last four years our relationship is different from the days when I worked and travelled a lot in my job. 8/21/2007
