Pope's Remarks About Jews 'unwise in Current Climate'

Only minutes after saying that he was "deeply sorry" about the reaction to his earlier remarks on Islam, Pope Benedict cited a passage from the New Testament highlighting the gulf between Christian and Jewish attitudes to the crucifixion of Jesus.

H MacK There is plenty in The real Talmud and The Koran to offend Christians as well as the revisionist & intentionally misleading protestant histories of Roman Catholic Christendom. However, I doubt if Roman Catholics will ever go out and throw bombs in public places, destroy mosques and synagogues and assasinate rabbis and muftis in the streets.
The one great difference between Our Blessed Lord Jesus and other supposed "prophets" is that He taught divine charity and unconditional forgiveness.

Daniel Are we to be ashamed of the Gospel or the faith of our Fathers? This whole issue shows the incongruity between light and darkness, the city of God and the city of man. "unwise in the current climate"---well, then the climate must change or you the NWO will just have to kill the true believers----and since we know the end of the script---I will prepare for death 9/18/2006
Charles It's clear that you are just looking for ways to demonize the pope and, by extension, all Catholics and Christians. You can choose to be insulted by even the most endearing comments. And while we are not to dare insult Muslims or Jews, any stick is good enough with which to beat a Catholic. Shame on you. With your malicious yellow journalism, you are contributing to the death of innocents, like the Italian nun butchered hours after Muslim clerics called for the death of the Pope. 9/18/2006
Treasa O'Toole What is wrong with using accurate quotes from recognised historical sources? Catholics have the right to speak still, although judging by the media, that can now be considered verboten. A revised English Bible would be cleansed to PC limitations by the way. It would not be the version used by the Catholic Church. Those who jump to criticise The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, do not take the time to read the full text (or do they even have the intellectual ability?) and those hotheads are standing ready to use anything they can grab in order to further their seething hatred. The media, ignoring the danger they are spawning, aid and abet such hotheads - all for titillating 'news'. When Jesus Christ, Son of God, walked on earth some people did not like what He said either - even though it was truth. In fact they still do not like the truth. 9/17/2006
