JonBenet and the Politics of Distraction

I am certain JonBenet Ramsey was a delightful child and her murder was horrific. Nevertheless, the JonBenet saga is only a margin note in the nation’s cultural history. It belongs under the heading: The politics of distraction.

jazz Enjoy your spicy rhetoric but your rant goes awry. What makes you think jazz is any of the above? By the way, fascism is corporate despotism. Your love of freedom is endearing but your disdain for equality is random. The left pleads for justice, not equality. You're right about the gray but the hatred business is tired. Who is your favorite jazz musician? I favor the train. 8/24/2006

MacZed Jazz, the first 4 paragraphs were great, then your hatred of the President and this Country's freedom shown so bright and clear as to be astounding. By the way. Democrats are Commies. Commies are Marxists. Marx was wrong. Marx was evil. Marxism is the basis of fascism, for without socialism national socialism could not exist. I believe you are well meaning. I believe you care. But care without knowledge is the exact tragedy you should fight. Stick to a fight for education. We are a nation with no black and white definitions...we are a nation of gray...and all in grayness does the future frame. We need to re-define Jazz. We need Freedom. We don't need Equality. Without Inequality no Freedom is possible. Mull that over for a while and when you are a capitalist, come back and talk to us about the social upheaval you so desire. 8/22/2006
