| ANITA | Rabies is a serious disease that causes inflammation of the brain. In the case of a non-vaccinated human most times it is fatal. Therefore it is crucial that all people especially those living in such continents such as Asia get a vaccination before it is to late. Relating to the case of the Chinese slaughtering 50,000 dogs it would have saved the lives of those 3 humans and many more if the government had taken care of the issue sooner. Since 70% of households own at least one doge and only about 3% are vaccinated why was China so surprised to the rise of rabies? My point being is that the lives of humans are precious but dogs are man’s best friends, having no fault in the contriving of this horrible disease the issue should have definitely been taken care in a different matter. Instead of taking the heartless act of laziness the government should have found alternative ways to deal with important issues such as this. Therefore unless there is evidence to the contrary, vaccinating the dogs as quick as possible does eliminate rabies and moreover could have been the solution to this matter. Also if the issue returns the government will have learned from their mistakes and take care of vaccinating dogs before they bite people. | 1/24/2008 |
| drummaster33 | I agree! I'm not even a huge fan of dogs (they are awesome tho) and I still cannot BELIEVE that any self respecting government in the world could possibly do this! There are ways to control rabies, and ways to get rid of it. Imagine if the dogs were the dominant race and we humans had some sort of disease. Would the dogs just run in and slaughter us all? I think not. Three deaths from rabies, right? Well, three people vs. 50,000 dogs, doesn't seem to be a fair tradeoff to me. If I had worked for the government at that time, I would have quit rather than become an inhuman animal murderer! Anyone else agree? | 6/5/2007 |

| JZ | haha, good luck boycotting Chinese products. A large percentage of your home is 'made in china'. Even if you conciously decided to buy only products made elsewhere, you'd be surprised just how much more money you'd spend every month. | 2/24/2007 |
| roomy | They should have killed 500000 of the stinking crap machines. | 10/6/2006 |

| Chelsea | c.c., now how can you be so ignorant to generalize the people of China as a whole? Cockroaches of the human race? Wow. There are so many people in China who are suffering 10x more than you are. As much as I disagree and find their actions appalling, to sum up EVERY chinese person and to say that they are cockroaches, your an obnoxious ignorant scum. THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT ARE FULL OF 'COCKROACHES'. If you want to insult, then get your facts RIGHT. | 8/18/2006 |
| Lee | I don't believe all chinese are bad They are just subject to BAD GOVERNMENT CHEAP SCAPES and crule. .......Pray that thier government will change. Pray that God will change the hearts of the ignorant people. END COMMUNISIM | 8/5/2006 |
| bobbie | I think we should QUIT ALL CHINESE IMPORTS AND thier govenment should give owners back vaccinated dogs. This is completey outrageous. STOP ALL WALLMARTS!!!! | 8/5/2006 |
| Debra Grossman | This is by far one of the most horrible and tragic event that has taken place against the animals. I will personally boycott as many products made in China as possible and will not watch by Olympics in China. I am outraged and sick over this brutal and unmerciful slaughter of these dogs. This reaction to a few cases of rabies is extreme and senseless. | 8/4/2006 |
| Marie | These people are barbaric . A boycott of their goods and the Olympics is underway. | 8/4/2006 |
| Sandra | I am so disgusted at this article. It makes me want to throw up. How humane is it to beat dogs to death. What about euthanasia...? Isn't that a more humane way to do things. If there was some knid of order in that country in the first place they wouldn't have to do that....I'm so disgusted with China that i do not want to buy anything made in China. I think that the leader of the country should be beaten to death just like the dogs that they beat...and then he can determine if it's humane or not! | 8/3/2006 |
| c.c. | The Chinese are the cockroaches of the human race. This proves it. | 8/2/2006 |
| dd | What do you expect from a country who cast of baby girls and allows them to die in orphanges | 8/2/2006 |
| Cock and Balls | That's just gross...but not suprising from a Commi country in the first place...Chinese Food with Dog Meat ....yummy. Boycotts abound!! | 8/2/2006 |
| Lynn McClure | I think this is absolutely appalling that a government could and would go into to a person's home and destroy an animal like that. It's not the fault of the animals and with proper vaccination and education the people of China would be able to bring this disease under control. I grieve the loss of the human lives and those that have lost their loved ones from this horrible disease but rabies can and has been brought under control in other countries. It too can be controlled in this country in a much more human way. To arbitrarily murder innocent animals as a prophylactic procedure instead of taking the proper steps to educate and vaccinate is wrong and just plain lazy! | 8/2/2006 |
| Mike Doyle | Holy cow...loss of words...crazy stupid perverse people in China!! Disgusted by the whole story. |
8/2/2006 |
| C. Lorriman | It's a brutal society. The Chinese government treats its citizens ruthlessly so who would expect that they would treat dogs any better. | 8/1/2006 |
| Darlene Macdona | I agree with the WHO officials that the emphasis should have been on prevention. I am absolutely appauled that this ludicrous act was conducted on helpless animals when it was the human responsibility to protect them from rabies in the 1st place. | 8/1/2006 |
| Janet Z. | I refuse to by anything Chinese to begin with, now all the more reason a sick society. This is not cutting down all Chinese people as there are some that are just as disgusted wit this. I WILL NEVER SIT IN A CHINESE RESTAURANT, I will never buy anything Chinese ever. Shame on the Chinese goverment I dont care what anyone says! |
8/1/2006 |
| Sally Reynolds | This is inhumane & cruel to say the least. This is a problem that stems form their government. I am outraged. there are ways to conrol rabies and their government has just chose not to enforce them. | 8/1/2006 |
