| cranston36 | After learning that Maj. Gen. Richard A. Huck of Camp LeJeune, then the commander of the Second Marine Division, reduced the sentence of Corporal Pimienta (who had murdered a fellow Marine by mishandling his weapon and then fled to Europe to escape prosecution) to six years and the dishonorable discharge to a bad-conduct discharge I realized the depths to which the United States Marine Corps has fallen. Major General Huck, in my opinion, is not fit for command. I don’t think he is the type of man that should be in the Marine Corps. The lack of judgment he used trying to hide this crime seemed a misguided attempt to maintain the reputation of the Marine Corps. Instead he tarnished it. It shows to the world gang style operations which present the Marine Corps not as an honorable group fighting for freedom but a gang led by out of touch officers who allow the enlisted men to kill one another instead of the enemy. This then, makes Major General Richard Huck, in my opinion, a danger not only the Marine Corps but to the United States of America. I understand that the military during peacetime allows men like Huck to move forward because other citizens are doing other things - but that is no excuse to allow him to continue in his office. The honorable thing that Major General Huck should do, if he is capable of honorable action (which I thoroughly doubt) would be to resign and decline his retirement pay immediately. |

| *Did your concepts of Americans as Terrorists begin in your classroom? Or did it begin on the television?* - I'm talking about American Government Policies here. And, yes, I've studied American History and American Foreign Policy. * Apparently, everyone has a belief that they are just in their actions else they would not pursue them...* - Of course. But there is an old saying – your freedom to swing your arms stops where the other person's nose starts. * At least the United States votes for action...and has the power to vote out those who they deem pushing unjust war.* - So it seems. The Iraq War, according to the opinions of most International Law Experts, is illegal and in violation of International Law. *You say you wish to win the minds and heart of men? How can you win the minds of men if they are chained to a dictatorship...chained to a religion...chained to a worldwide push for propaganda and hatred...chained without a constitution...chained to the rule of those who can lead their country into desolation and war without recourse or question.* - Or chained to Blind and Unquestioning Nationalism. Yes, it is a problem indeed. *You say we Americans are terrorists?* - I have a problem with American Government Policies. I have an enormous respect for American Rational Thinkers and Intellectuals. *To you I say one day you will either be a slave or be free? Which do you prefer? If you prefer your chains...than keep them, so long as you are free to choose them.* - Yes, that's the important distinction – so long as I'm free to choose them. Freedom (or really any one particular idea of it) cannot be imposed – or then it stops being freedom. Thank you for reading and commenting. It is always good to hear other view-points. Sonal Panse |
