This is more wishful thinking. First of all, all wars are not caused for belief. Belief, particularly religious belief or any comparable ideology will suffice to motive people into war, but it is not necessary. The root of all wars goes well into our evolutionary past - and of course basic risk-benefit analysis of resource allocation. If the profit in resources outweighs the cost of going to war, then war is inevitable. It matters not if you worship Jesus Christ, Allah, or Quetzlecoatyl, or Joseph Stalin, it is inevitable. As our natural resources (namely, oil) dwindle, war will increase. It will have to increase, unless we find a way to provide energy as orderly as oil to the world's population (and that isn't realistically on the horizon), then as the oil wells dry up (and they all will), we will no longer be able to support the 6.7 billion people on this planet.
The carrying capacity of the planet without oil (or during an ice age), is about 2 billion. Do the math. About four billion people are going to have to get off this planet at current population levels. War is the most likely method to get those people off the planet.
As far as transcendance is concerned - let us imagine that it worked. Great. How do you get the majority of the population to transcend? It would only work if the majority were in on the plan. Good luck with that. |

How can you say that the solution is transcendence? Transcendentalism is inconsistant. Now why would something inconsistant be provided as a solution to a consistant problem? Transcendentalism's philosophy is based on multiple truths of the same topic. If every person is evolving their beliefs all the time, then when we arrive at new truths the truths will differ. This is do to the fact that we all have different ways of viewing the world. However, a philosophy that incases many different truths about the same topic is inconsistant. Why? Answering this , differing multiple truths provides no consistant truth. Without absolute truth laws cannot exist. Following the further, most truth in the world is found to be one absolute. Nevertheless, people may say that absolute truths do not matter in the equation. However, think about the many absolute truths found in everday life. For instance, the earth is sphereical. This is an absolute truth that effects the way the world revolves, so please consider these thoughts and I thank you for taking the time to convey your thoughts and beliefs. |

The source of all war is land and the key is military power and strategic seniority. In every war, the purpose of it is to get land, like Germany in WWII in taking France and other countries for land. Yes, different people beliefs may cause people to start a war but it is because there belief says that they need to live in this country or area. But, you need power and strategy to be able to take of the lands they have been promised. You also need God, not ala, to help you get were you are suppose to be. You do not need to transcend, or go beyond the point of believing that Christ died for those who believe in so that they will go to Heaven. Because, you may go beyond and think that you can not die when you jump off a cliff, but when you try it to show the world you can survive, you end up not surviving. Most people have not transcended even to the point of believing in Christ. Even God’s chosen people fought to get into the promise land. So wars are fought for land but may also have different reasons, but the main one is land. Wars can also be fought anywhere and at any time.

Source of All War is Belief - Spirituality is the Answer
After more than 450 years of mass indoctrination in the name of "God" ala the white man - where they conquered, ruled and divided Africa's people; raped and pillaged the land and all its natural resources that has ravaged Africa for so long.
So much hatred is based on ignorance - the unknown. When we lack the ability to communicate we remain ignorant of our fellow beings - based on colour, creed, gender, political beliefs, customs traditions, et al.
Until we can cross those "man-made" barriers we - cannot truly know ... accept, respect, understand, tolerate others as part and parcel of our own homo sapien species - let alone the animal world, marine, fauna and flora life forms.
This cornerstone that has founded simple philosophies that has been the crux of developing human consciousness - whether it be through satsangs, yoga, Sufiism - all forms of spirituality through unconventional "accepted" means ... well, by conventional or fundamentalist religious beliefs.
Thus the simple philosophy that has come out of over 450 years of ugly colonial and religious invasion ... uBuntu - "Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu"
A person is a person through other persons.
We affirm our humanity when we acknowledge that of others.
True peace can only come when there is no tyrant, no victim, no rebel and not a moment before.
In order for this peace to manifest in the outer world. One must find peace within by reconciliation of the inner tyrant, victim and rebel, for reconciliation breeds humility. humility breeds truth and from that truth which is absolute, peace is manifest.T
ones worth as a human being - is not determined by those (in high places) you try to impress; but the commoner on the street whom you recognise - identify with as a part of humanity ... an extension of oneself ...
before one can see, find, recognise, applaud the goodness (or fault) in others; one first needs to seek within and see what goodness/attributes they have and project - have to offer the world ...

not everything has been rooted in belief...
well, contrary to popular belief, in the wide history of it all, i do believe that there is more beyond the surface of what presents itself as a war of belief and religion.. l mean think about it... why is it that wars that actually erupted for the past few years only happen where there is oil? or how is it that third parties like the USA plays a role in the war of Isreal and Lebanon? when people claimed that war was a long bomb waiting to explode from the battle of claiming what used to be palestine for the jews or the lebanese?
why is it that we claim that god is all good and knowing, when he allows his people to kill each other and fight war in the name of the lord? why does god have a temper of a man?
if you think about it, there are a lot of loose threads along the line of history, religion and war... and its not really impossible for these threads to have a master weaver behind it... people who know how people act and react enough to create a pretty good excuse for all these turmoik and suffering...
although i have to admit, a cannot vouch for the accuracy of anything i said, but if you really think about it. it makes sense right?

You are killing innocent cows and animals. Nature will take revenge. Wait for that. As soon as the time is ripe, the nature will gather all these rascals, and club, slaughter them. Finished. They will fight amongst themselves, Protestant and Catholic, Russian and France, and France and Germany. This is going on. Why? This is the nature's law. Tit for tat. You have killed. Now you become killed" (Conversation 6/11/74)
We find in modern warfare that attacks are made upon innocent citizens who are without fault. According to the law of Manu, such warfare is a most sinful activity. Furthermore, at the present moment civilized nations are unnecessarily maintaining many slaughterhouses for killing innocent animals. When a nation is attacked by its enemies, the wholesale slaughter of the citizens should be taken as a reaction to their own sinful activities. That is nature's law. (Srimad Bhagavatam 4.11.7)
In this age of Kali the propensity for mercy is almost nil. Consequently there is always fighting and wars between men and nations. Men do not understand that because they unrestrictedly kill so many animals, they also must be slaughtered like animals in big wars. This is very much evident in the Western countries. In the West, slaughterhouses are maintained without restriction, and therefore every fifth or tenth year there is a big war in which countless people are slaughtered even more cruelly than the animals. Sometimes during war, soldiers keep their enemies in concentration camps and kill them in very cruel ways. These are reactions brought about by unrestricted animal-killing in the slaughterhouse and by hunters in the forest. Proud, demoniac persons do not know the laws of nature, or the laws of God. Consequently, they unrestrictedly kill poor animals, not caring for them at all. This Krsna consciousness movement is the only means by which the sinful activities of men in this Kali-yuga can be counteracted. (Srimad Bhagavatam 4.26.5)
In Kali Yuga - The Age of Ignorance Vedic Knowledge Sheds Light On the World Bhagavad Gita As It Is
"Following such conclusions, the demoniac, who are lost to themselves and who have no intelligence, engage in unbeneficial, horrible works meant to destroy the world." TEXT 16.9
The demoniac are engaged in activities that will lead the world to destruction. The Lord states here that they are less intelligent. The materialists, who have no concept of God, think that they are advancing. But, according to Bhagavad-gita, they are unintelligent and devoid of all sense. They try to enjoy this material world to the utmost limit and therefore always engage in inventing something for sense gratification. Such materialistic inventions are considered to be advancement of human civilization, but the result is that people grow more and more violent and more and morecruel, cruel to animals and cruel to other human beings. They have no idea how to behave toward one another. Animal killing is very prominent amongst demoniac people. Such people are considered the enemies of the world because ultimately they will invent or create something which will bring destruction to all. Indirectly, this verse anticipates the invention of nuclear weapons, of which the whole world today is very proud. At any moment war may take place, and these atomic weapons may create havoc. Such things are created solely for the destruction of the world, and this is indicated here. Due to godlessness, such weapons are invented in human society; they are not meant for the peace and prosperity of the world.

It is one thing to say all war and conflict is a matter of a faith or the clash of the faithful... It is an altogether different thing to provide a solution. Does one grow up by transendance? No, experience is the guide...and education is the key. The problem is not faiths. The problem is utopia. Once the problem is defined as that which is beyond possibility, the answer seems to the placing down a framework of what is possible. The locked door is The History of Ethics. The Wall the door is mounted upon is the inability of mankind to agree on the perspective with which to view that History. The open window in the wall is the realization that Man's mind creates. We are looking up for a way... We need to decide if the world outside the window is worth looking upon. Until a concensus is reached beyond apathy articles such as yours will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. |

Interesting analogy at the end. When I fought over toys, I never thought of killing someone. In fact, most times, I would just play with something else. Growing up turned me into a person where the threat of someone taking something of mine away became a far more dangerous consideration. Perhaps what we really need to do is learn from the actions of our children. However, the most interesting thing here is that you are asking people to be disingenuine to their faith - to supplant their beliefs with some social responsibility that has no real foundation than "can't we all just get along?" It's because of my belief in Christ that I am more tolerant, that I seek to avoid fights, that I seek to serve my fellow man regardless of his religious bent or belief system. It's because I have a belief system that I work to better the planet on which I live, not because I can drop those beliefs into a box and ignore them. |

I guess that your belief system is as flawed as those who you complain about. Sorry if you are shocked but, your way of thinking is an obsolete and unintelligent view that has kept the human race from evolving as it should. You say that change is the ultimate constant yet, you deny change by avoiding reality. People will always have differing opinions, that is the nature of human thought. It is the nature of man to see the world through the eyes of the individual. The day that this gift dies is the day that mankind dies. Truth will never be something that we will find by just growing up. It will come through the diligent application of faith by the individual. |

when i fought over toys it ended because i pushed down my sisters and made them cry...anyway...this statement is sooo genral (no doubt i agree) its hard to put my thoughts on it in one direction...maybe underlying all our actions, subconsciously we have the same message expressed in as many ways as there are people, creatures, things, plurality. I think sometimes our desire to "be on the same page" is so great, and the discomfort of others individual expression is soooo strong, that we feel the need to force them into our mold. In a way we fight for a sense of security. The more people who are like us...the more we feel comfortable being...us. |
