my daughter has LPR and not acid reflux. Doctors have prescribed double doses of Nexium to allow the Vegus nerve to heal. They wanted to prevent any possible acid from touching the area around her vocal cords. In addition, doctors have her taking medication for anxiety in order to relax her vocal cords from performing laryngeal spasms. Both of these medications have appeared to cause globus or lump like feelings around the vocal cords and many other complications like, unpredictable periods and heavy bleeding during this time; ...anger problems, depression, irrational behavior, confusion, severe weight loss, nervousness, sinusitis, and continuous night mares leading to fatigue and lack of energy. |

I have been on nexium 40 mg.daily for 4 years.Will I go through withdrawal if I quit?It seems like the more time goes on,I am almost addicted to it,bu heartburn comes back when it wears off,so I take more.Please help.I think its making me worse and alot of side effects |

I was told to take the medicine for the rest of my life. I have been on it two months and have burning pain daily, however before I started taking the medicine I hardly ever had heart burn. They told me to take it because I get aspiration pneumonia because two or three times a year I aspirate back into my mouth and then into my lungs. I have an internet receiver and not a computer so I can't download your program but I am going to quit taking the medicine and be more aware of what goes into my mouth. P.S. I am not or was not a junk food eater before I began taking the medicine, but I know there are a few things I must delete from my diet. Thanks for the article. |

I was unaware of these side effects and I believe that the prescibing physician should be required to inform their patients of this when they start having these side effects. I have a severe case of Vertigo, Vaginitus, and Dysplasia GI and still this information was not relayed to me. It truly makes me think differently about my Doctor and the medical field in general. I have decided from this point forward to try alternative avenues when dealing with health issues if at all possible. I don't think that people realize that the medical field is just like another business because in their minds that would be immoral, I was very enlightened about this fact when I started working at a Neuro Surgeon's office. I really like your Web sight and I thought it was very informative and will be visiting it in the future. |
