Rob Works better for spanish, imho. I studied Spanish for 4 years in high school. I self studied Russian for 6 years.

I could do this in Spanish, I still cannot do this in Russian. I mean I can make up sentences in Russian that make sense to me, but they will make no sense if spoken aloud or to any Russian.

You cannot think in correct sentences, unless you already know all the grammar rules. To do that, doesn't come from the imagination but from formal study.

Thinking may help repeat, but thats all it can do, repeat what you already know.

I wouldn't mind extra clarification on exactly how that helps.

Liza Hussein Thankyou Steve, for sharing this advice. Silly enough, I had been studying and practising but not actually THINKING turkish half as much as I should have been. I think this is the key. 5/31/2007
