Stacey, be glad you have your man. I am so sorry what happened to you. I relate. I feel the same way right now. I got fired unjustly from a career type job, and then got a great ministry job, and then got laid off. I was so happy though that I had my fiance Matt, and then he had to move to Arizona and he is not sure if he wants me to move there. I was thanking God so much for Matt because his encouragement was so helpful that I felt like I could get through anything. I was thanking God for that, even though I "lost everything" but then He took away the person who was getting me through it all. I feel like God has abandoned me too and doesn't love me anymore. |

I agree. Thank you for writing this wonderful piece. I think people on drugs need to come to Jesus, and He will show them when and how to get off. Everyone else seems to think people have to get off drugs in order to come to Jesus, and I think it is the other way around. |

A personal relationship with Jesus is the key to Christianity. A Christian by definition is some one who is Christ-like. If I call myself a Christian but know nothing of and act nothing like Christ I am not speaking the truth. If I say that I am like Josh (my best friend) but I don’t really know what Josh is like and spend no time with him I am also lying. I couldn't tell you what Josh likes or dislikes; I couldn't tell you how Josh would respond in certain situations; and I would not have developed any Josh-like characteristics. I wouldn’t start to like some of the things that Josh does, because I have not experienced any of these things personally. But the truth is I have spent a great deal of time with Josh, and as a result I know what Josh likes and does not, I know how he reacts when certain things happen, and I have started to developed some of his characteristics and also some of his character, because I have had a variety of experiences with Josh. How many people would you say that you are like but do not have a true relationship with? If I were to ask you if you knew who Peyton Manning was, you would probably answer, "Yes, of course; Peyton Manning is the quarterback for the greatest team in the NFL: the Indianapolis Colts." You may know of Peyton Manning, but if I were to ask you what his hobbies are or what his favorite subject was in middle school, you would probably not have a valid response. Many Americans call themselves Christians, they say that they know Christ, and yet they truly know very little of Christ. These Christians may know of Christ (what great feats He has accomplished, what he is famous for) but they couldn’t tell you what His voice sounds like, what makes Him smile, or what His presence feels like. Knowledge of these things stems from fellowship with Christ. Knowing Christ is not a hard thing, but it does require a certain amount of time and effort. If you draw near to God, He will draw near to you.

Amen, brother. Jesus is Lord of all, and I'm so thankful that He saved me. He has promised to never leave me or forsake me -- what a comfort and security. I desire to glorify His holy, matchless name. He has brought me such joy! I would be so happy to see more and more people turn to Him and accept His gift of salvation |

Jesus, mohamed and the budha are all conceptual anchors driven by your need to serve and find you salvation thru them. All part of the dream. It is your character in this dream which need its own separation in order to follow doctrine and religious conditioning. The inmate can not wake up from a prison he can not see....because he thinks himself to be. |

Good point, Jesus is the Way, the Life, and the Truth. He is the solution to all things. What we fail to understand sometimes though is this; sometimes we have to go through things to prepare to help someone else with the same problem. Sometimes we are tested and tried, by fire, to harden us for Christ. The devil has made our minds playfields, but this is because we have a space between us and our Lord and Saviour. If we eliminate the space this is not the case. |

Very good job, Lee! I found this page by researching a way to help people with addictions. Like your self we are a small church and we have a burning desire to start up a center in our area. Do you have any ideas that you can share? I know that filling someones life with Jesus is all it takes. Do you know of some delivered ministers that could come and speak to our church? |

AN HISTORICAL INTRODUCTION TO ORTHODOXY: The New Testament Church was founded by Jesus Christ and preached by the Apostles. Its beginning dates back to Pentecost, 33 A.D. The Patriarchate of Antioch, for example, was originally founded in A.D. 34 by Saint Peter and Saint Paul, and is referenced in the Bible Acts 11, verses 25 to 27, as follows: Acts 11 25. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26. and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. 27. During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. The basic structure of the early Church was that of a universal union of local churches bound by the unity of apostolic succession of the bishops. Each church community was organically a part of the universal unity of all Christians as one people of God. By the year 1,000, the New Testament Church had become communities of local churches organized around five regional centers; each headed by a "Patriarch" – the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, and Rome. But it was still a single Christian church, united in faith and practices. There was some friction, even at an early stage, about the status of the Church of Rome, - which was the Church of the apostles Peter and Paul, and the Church of the capital of the Empire. In the East, Rome was given the ceremonial title of "First among Equals". However, in Rome, the Popes began to declare that special God-given rights had been granted to the papacy to govern the universal church. The rest of the Church rejected those claims. However, the Popes continued to expand and pursue their claims of authority over the entire Christian Church. In 1054, the Pope severed his ties with the other Patriarchs in the East. After that, the Popes in Rome instituted changes in beliefs and practices that were rejected by the Orthodox Patriarchs in the East, who continued to preach and practice the original Christian faith. These Roman changes were so onerous that Martin Luther ignited the Protestant Revolution that raged throughout Europe. But rather than returning to the original Christian faith, the Protestants repeated the errors of the Popes by instituting further changes in beliefs and practices in the name of Christianity. This led to further splintering of the Protestant ranks. It is estimated that there are now over 25,000 different Protestant denominations in the United States alone. |

Yes, Jesus is still Jesus. This attempt by Evangelical Protestants to return to the Early Church by throwing everything away and starting over from scratch is an error and contradictory. In the Early Church it was not a personal relationship the followers of Christ wanted, but to become a member of the community of believers. It was salvation in community not you and Jesus alone saying your prayers into your pillow. There are so many beliefs, according to the 2000 US Census 28,000 sects that refer to themselves as Christian. My question is thus: If the Holy Spirit represents truth can truth be divided 28,000 ways? The answer is no. The Protestants and the Roman Catholics are both wrong. For example, if you believe in the concept of the Holy Trinity you are really following the Apostolic Fathers of the Orthodox Catholic Church of the East and their Holy Ecumenical Synods whom established these basic doctrines. If you look to the authority of the New Testament you must first realize who had the authority to construct the New Testament in the first place. Does the Bible produce the church or did the Church produce the Bible? The answer: It was authorized and constructed by the Orthodox Church and her first three Holy Ecumenical Synods. I doubt many Protestants have ever bothered to study the apostolic sources outside the Gospels or the Ecumenical Synods of the Early Christian Church. It's like claiming you can understand the US government while refusing to read the Federalist Papers or any court decisions. Besides, there is little doubt that the only Church the early Christians would even begin to recognize today would be the Orthodox Church. What the evangelicals have created has no direct relationship whatsoever with the Christian Church as it was founded. |

It is so true that going to church, bible study, prayer group and such is just religion. Take me to Jesus makes the difference. |
