Disabled & Handicapped
Handicap and disability travel - travel for the disabled and handicapped. A great portion of the world's population suffers from some sort of physical, mental, or emotional handicap drastically reducing their capabilities in daily activities. The accepted word to describe this person is disabled. Disabled people, with the help of positive attitudes and medical and technological advances, are able to enjoy fuller lives. Some people are born with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, blindness, deafness, and epilepsy. Accidents, disease, and war make up about three-fourths of today's disabled Americans. Also, there are groups of elderly people afflicted with crippling diseases such as arthritis and diabetes. The links included herein relate to travel for the differently-abled.
