Roads & Highways

Established after the introduction of automobiles to the majority of the United States, highways have become historical reminders of our past and fast-changing culture. A highway is a land route from one point to another. In the U.S., highways are divided roads with limited access, and offer an assortment of entrances and exits. This also may be called an expressway, freeway, or turnpike. In Great Britain, a highway is called a motorway, in Germany, an autobahn, and in Italy, an autostrada. Roads are not recent inventions, having been the result of ancient civilizations pressing on to other lands in Asia. The links included herein relate specifically to roads and highways.
