International Time Zones & Time Zone Converters
A time zone is a longitudinal strip of the Earth's surface, stretching from pole to pole and sharing the same time of day or night. The Earth requires 24 hours to make one complete rotation on its axis. Thus the direct rays of the Sun pass through one degree of longitude every 4 minutes. Because the time zones extend around the world, the 24th zone has to lie next to the first one. The time zones on either side of this line are 24 hours apart. Thus, a person who moves from east to west across the line immediately "loses" a day. Below are links to information about international time zones and time zone converter resources.
