Serbia, a Balkan republic, is the national state of the Serbian people and the dominant component of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Serbia borders on Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, and Macedonia. Its capital and largest city is Belgrade. Other Serbian cities include Novi Sad, Nis, and Pristina. Two autonomous provinces--Kosovo and Vojvodina--also lie within Serbia's borders.
