Germanic Language & Germanic Translation

Information and resources on Germanic language & Germanic language translation. Germanic languages, which form a subfamily of Indo-European languages, are spoken today by 540 million people in many parts of the world but chiefly in Europe and North America. Traditionally, Germanic languages comprise three major branches: West Germanic, North Germanic, and East Germanic. The Germanic languages broke away from other Indo-European languages, forming a clearly distinguishable and independent group of closely related dialects, usually referred to as Proto-Germanic. A more-or-less regular series of sound changes was one of the distinguishing features of this separation. Below are links that provide information about the Germanic languages.
