Chinese Language & Chinese Translation

Information and resources on Chinese language & Chinese language translation. The Chinese language, one of the Sino-Tibetan languages, is spoken largely in the east and southeast of China, by people referred to ethnically as the Hans, the name of an ancient dynasty that flourished in the Huang He (Hwang Ho) basin. Much of north and northwest China falls in the domain of the Ural-Altaic languages–a far-flung family that includes Mongolian, Japanese, and Korean. Southwest China has many speakers of Tibeto-Karen and Austro-Tai languages. Although called dialects, the many regional varieties of Chinese are as different from one another as French is from Spanish or as English is from German.
