Travel Journals & Travelogues

A travelogue is a traveling experiences diary or record maintained by a traveller. Journals record events happening in the life of the writer. Also known as diaries, journals are intensely personal, and often become as famous as the person who wrote them, such as Jonathan Swift's Journal to Stella, or the Samuel Pepys' diary, or Samuel Sewall's. Diaries and journals provide personal information not often available in the writings or business affairs of famous people. People often write in their diaries what they cannot say or write to other people, and so diaries are a treasure trove of true feelings, and undisclosed memories.
