Nunavut is the newest Canadian province, and boasts the largest number of Canada's Inuit people as inhabitants. Nunavut split from the Northwest Territories April 1, 1999, and is divided into three sections; Qikiqtaaluk Region, the Kivalliq Region, and the Kitikmeot Region. Nunavut means "our land" in Inuit.
