Belarus Travel

Belarus travel and tourism information & guide on vacation spots and destinations in Belarus. Belarus is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, bordered by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. Minsk is the capital. Until it achieved independence in 1991, Belarus was the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Most of Belarus is a flat plain, with little variation in relief. The elevation is generally higher in the north, and a chain of hills runs through the central portion of the country. Marshy lowlands cover the southern region in the basin of the Pripyat River. About one-third of the country is covered with forests, mostly coniferous and birch.
