Wrangell Saint Elias National Park

Wrangell Alaska - Wrangell St. Elias national park and preserve. Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska covers the largest area in the national park system, 13,188,325 acres. Established as a national monument in 1978 and as a national park and preserve in 1980, it encompasses the North America's greatest concentration of high peaks, in an area where three great mountain ranges converge: the Wrangells, Chugach, and Saint Elias. It is also noted for containing some of the longest and largest glaciers in the world. From the Gulf of Alaska and Yakutat Bay the park extends northwestward to Mount Saint Elias and north to the Wrangell Mountains.
