Rock Creek Park
Officially established on September 27, 1890, Rock Creek Park is one of the oldest national parks in the National Park Service. The park constitutes one of the largest forested urban parks in the United States and it contains a multitude of natural, historical, and recreational features. The park is located in Washington, D.C. and is only five miles from the White House. Within the park are the remains of Fort Stevens, the site of the only Civil War engagement to occur within the District of Columbia. The park offers natural relief from the urban grind of many Washingtonians and visitors to the nation's capitol. Below are links that provide information about Rock Creek Park.
