Padre Island National Seashore
North and south Padre Island, Texas. The Padre Island National Seashore is the largest remaining undeveloped barrier island in the world and it is located off the coast of Corpus Christi, Texas. The park protects nearly 133,000 acres of white sand beaches, interior grasslands, ephemeral ponds, and the Laguna Madre. The park provides habitat for an array of wildlife, including coyotes, waterfowl, various reptiles and amphibians, sea turtles, ground squirrels, and snakes. The island is a popular tourist destination, especially with residents of the region. The Padre Island National Seashore receives over 800,000 visitors each year.
