Lassen Volcanic National Park

Lassen Volcanic National Park in the southern Cascade Range of northern California was established in 1916. The park preserves a 106,372-acre area, the centerpiece of which is 10,457-feet Lassen Peak, southernmost of the Cascades' volcanic chain. Now dormant, Lassen last erupted in 1921, having awaked in 1914 from 400 years of slumber. The park displays many of the vestiges of recent volcanic activity, including cinder cones, craters, fumaroles, hot mud pots, and sulfur springs. Nearly 300 species of wildflowers are found there. Here are some interesting sites devoted to this National Park.
