Grand Teton National Park
Grand Teton National Park, containing the Teton Range of the Rocky Mountains, is situated in northwestern Wyoming, only 7 miles south of Yellowstone National Park. It covers 485 acres. The mountains quickly rise more than 7,000 feet from Jackson Hole, a flat plain at their base. The highest peak in the park, Grand Teton, reaches 13,770 feet. Glaciers, lakes, rivers, hot springs, and waterfalls add to the park's beauty. Elk, deer, moose, and bear inhabit the heavily forested park. Grand Teton became a national park in 1929.
