Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Scenic Highway that traverses the ridgeline of the Blue Ridge Mountains from Virginia to North Carolina. The Parkway is over 400 miles long and its travelers are greeted by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountain Range. The Parkway is actually part of the National Park system and it crosses through several National Forests and State Parks along its summit path. The initial survey work for the project began as early as 1909 and the completed highway is still considered a masterpiece of modern engineering.
