Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site

The Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site stands at the location of the Hopewell Furnace, an active producer of molded or cast iron products made from iron ore, limestone, and charcoal. From 1771 until 1883, the furnace used the timber of the surrounding hardwood forests of Elverson, Pennsylvania to produce these products. Visitors to the site can learn about the lives of the workers that once inhabited the furnace and the local villages.
