Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site

The Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site is located in Williston, North Dakota and marks the area that was once the principal fur trading post on the Upper Missouri River during the mid 1800s. Fort Union represented the hub of an expansive trade network that included the Native American tribes of the Assiniboin, Crow, Blackfeet, Cree, Ojibwa, and Mandan, among others. Some of the interpreters within the National Historic Site address visitors in period dress and carry replicas of furs traded during the 19th century.
