Dinosaur Provincial Park

Dinosaur Provincial Park in southeastern Alberta province, Canada was given its present name in 1961. A natural preserve that covers about 30% of the park was established in 1970; this restricted area protects park resources. The park comprises three habitats that support plant and animal life. Animal species found in the park include mule and white-tailed deer, cottontail rabbits, coyotes, pronghorn antelope, and such birds as the golden eagle, the prairie falcon, waterfowl, and mountain bluebirds. In addition to the varied landscapes, Dinosaur Provincial Park contains some of the most important fossil discoveries ever made.
