Chimney Rock National Historic Site
The Chimney Rock National Historic Site marks the location of one of the most famous landmarks in the history of the American West. This unique rock formation has become the most noted landmark in the storied history of the Oregon Trail and has come to symbolize the great migration west that occurred during the early years of the United States. Chimney Rock is located in Bayard, Nebraska and the Ethel and Christopher J. Abbot Visitor Center at the Chimney Rock National Historic Site is operated by the Nebraska State Historical Society.
