Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site

Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site is located in Baldwyn, Mississippi. This national historic site marks the location of a battle between Union and Confederate forces that was initiated by the Union in order to dissuade Confederate cavalry from obstructing Union supply routes. The battle served as a warning to the Union army of the considerable tactical skill of the Confederate cavalry units. Although Confederate troops routed the Federals, the Union objective was met and key supply lines remained open.
