Windsurfing

Windsurfing, also known as boardsailing, is basically a cross between surfing and boat sailing in which one navigates through water while standing on a board with an attached sail. There are different levels and types of windsurfing based on wave structure, wind speed, and board and sail sizes. Popularized in Europe in the 1970s, windsurfing has since evolved worldwide with the help of onshore teaching techniques and the manufacturing of more efficient boards and sails. Several amateur and professional windsurfing competitions are held throughout the world and boardsailing became an Olympic event in1984. This section features various resources on windsurfing.
