Orienteering
Orienteering is basically a cross-country race in which individual competitors use a map and compass to guide them between consecutive routing points. Each point is marked by a flag and has an object for the participants to collect in order to prove they made it to that point. Rogaining is similar to orienteering, except is performed by teams. The modern versions of orienteering and rogaining originated in Sweden in 1918 and the sports were soon being practiced in Europe and North America, where today they are popular among athletes of all ages and both sexes.
