Weight lifting and bodybuilding are sports that are performed both competitively and as a means of physical fitness. Weight lifting involves using one's hands to raise a bar with metal weights, with the goal of increasing one's muscular abilities. The three major types of lifts in weight lifting, or powerlifting, competitions are the squat, the bench press, and the dead lift. Bodybuilding involves activities, including exercise programs and nutritional practices, which strengthen, improve, and sculpt one's body to show muscular detail and definition.
