Water Polo
Water polo is a sport in which two teams of swimmers pass and throw a ball in order to get it into the opposite team's netted goal. Teams consist of three defensive players, three offensive players, and a goalie, and each player must wear a colored and numbered cap. Each goal is worth one point and the team with the most points after four periods wins the game. Water polo was developed in Great Britain in the early 1870s and was introduced to the U.S. in 1888. It became an Olympic event in 1900. This section focuses on water polo.
