Modern Pentathlon
Pentathlons are Olympic competitions consisting of a collection of five athletic events. The highest scorer in all events is the winner. The modern-day men's pentathlon tests participants' survival skills over a course of five days and includes an 800-meter obstacle course on horses, an fencing match, air pistol shooting, a 300-meter swim, and a 4,000-meter cross-country run. The women's pentathlon, which today is actually a heptathlon, is held for two days and includes 100-meter hurdles, the shot put, the high jump, the long jump, the 200-meter sprint, the javelin, and the 800-meter run. This section focuses on modern Olympic pentathlons.
