Luge
Luging is a precarious and fast-moving winter sport in which one or two people use their bodies and feet to navigate a small luge sled through a twisting ice track. The luge's shell and its two runners are constructed out of a fiberglass and the blades are made out of steel. The speed of a luge can travel up to 80 mph. Since 1914, the European luge championships have been staged every year and the Federation Internationale de Luge de Course sanctions various international competitions. In 1964, luging was added to the Winter Olympics program. This section focuses on luging.
