Lacrosse

Lacrosse is a team sport that involves players either kicking or using sticks with nets to drive a small rubber ball into the goal of the opposing team. As with soccer, only the goalie can handle the ball. Men's lacrosse teams consist of 10 players, while women's teams are comprised of 12 members. Various North American Indians are credited with developing the first form of Lacrosse. In 1867, a Montreal native established the first lacrosse rules and eventually the game became a popular amatuer and professional sport in many English-speaking countries, including the United States. This section focuses on lacrosse.
